HAIR TRANSPLANT IN WOMEN
We understand the importance that hair plays in a woman’s well being. Women suffering from hair loss often live being continuously self-conscience about their appearance. Using whatever they can to cover their hair loss.
Cause
Though it is often genetics, female hair loss can be caused by many different things. Dr. Garg examines all aspects of a woman’s health to find the right remedy. Often women can get their hair back with medication, topical solutions, injections, laser treatments, or just time.
There are some important differences between a male and female transplant:
-
In males, there is a stable permanent zone that is outside the hormonal effects and acts as a good donor, while in females the donor area is thin and unstable and is under the same hormonal effects. This can lead to less growth.
-
Frontal hairline is preserved in females while this is the major area needing restoration in males. Thus the tremendous improvement obtained by hairline reconstruction in males cannot be reproduced in females
-
Females are not willing to undertake shaving of head for the procedure unlike in males. Hence it is more difficult and takes longer time to perform the transplant without trimming.
-
There is no alternate donor source for hair apart from scalp unlike in males, where body hair can also be used.
The above differences make it very clear that only a highly experienced surgeon can do a successful female transplant.
The procedure done is FUE or follicular unit extraction where individual grafts are taken from the donor area and implanted on the recipient areas. We also do G-Factor FUE, where along with FUE, the platelet rich plasma containing various growth factors derived from patient’s own blood are injected into the bald areas.
The same procedure can be used to restore eyebrows and eyelashes in women to give fuller and thicker brows and lashes.
